My Health
Oye Vye--It has been a rough month for me. While in San Diego towards the end of September, I started feeling really dizzy, like I could almost faint but just chalked it up to eating too much crap that I don't normally eat so I didn't think anything of it. Went back to work and had the same thing happen on and off so I finally went to Urgent Care. They pricked my finger to test my blood sugar level and my hemoglobin which were both fine. A few days later I was off to LabCorp to get some blood drawn and have more tests run on it. Urgent Care called the next day to inform me that I need to go to my primary doctor to have them give me B12 shots. This was very scary to me since I have always been very healthy except for being a little overweight. My B12 level was very low. Normal is anywhere from 215-900, I was at 130. To severe of a low level can cause brain and nerve damage. Needless to say I have to give myself a shot of B12 once a week for the next six (now 3) weeks. It's a good thing that I am not afraid of needles. I have no problems giving myself the shots. After the six weeks are up, I will have to take 1 shot a month for the rest of my life. I had to do a bone density scan and a spinal X-ray on Friday so we'll see what comes back w/those. I feel a lot better than what I did, so I am glad that I am able to take care of it and get back on track.
